Well that was a busy week last week! Did anyone go to any of the trade shows? I went to a few and it was interesting to see all the different things that people had to offer! I even walked away with some great ideas.

This week features a concert, a fund-raiser for Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes, new and exciting careers, a good old-fashioned Halloween party, and as always, great hockey, so read on to find out more!

First, the Rascal Flatts American Living Unstoppable Tour featuring Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, and Cledus T. Judd is coming to the Pengrowth Saddledome on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. How can you go wrong with a group like Rascal Flatts? I’m definitely looking forward to this concert! See Ticketmaster for ticket availability.

Next, the Gold Medal Plates is a unique celebration of Canadian Excellence in cuisine, wine, entertainment, and athletic achievement. This event features superb wines and premier chefs paired with Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes in a competition to crown a gold, silver and bronze medal culinary team in Calgary, and it’s all to raise funds for Canada’s High Performance athletes! If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, then come down to cheer on our very own Executive Chef Derek Dale at this event. Thursday Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. in the BMO Centre.

Puzzled about your future? Want a career change? Then the Calgary Career Show is for you! With several seminars and lots of job opportunities from a variety of employers, this show is for anyone that is looking to succeed at a great career. October 30 – 31 in the BMO Centre.

The NHL’s Calgary Flames look to wrap up their five-game home stand at the Saddledome this week as well. First, the Colorado Avalanche come visit on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. With the Flames possessing a perfect record against NW Division opponents thus far, will the Avalanche be the first team this season to spoil the Flames’ streak? Or will they end up being Shot Down in Flames like the rest of their NW brethren? And a few days later, the Detroit Red Wings come to town on Saturday, Oct. 31 to see if they can steal a win from the Flames’ bag o’ tricks. Puck drop for that game is at 8 p.m.

And speaking of trick-or-treating, the Naughty Nights 4: Heroes Ball will be at the Big Four Building on October 31. What is the Heroes Ball? Only the BIGGEST and the BEST Halloween party ever held in Calgary! Despite it honoring the Heroes and Heroines that fight for justice and protect us from evil, it’s also a place where even the villains come to party! Doors will be open from 9 p.m. and 2 a.m, so whether you support the heroes or the villains, make sure you dress up accordingly! It is, after all, Halloween. And besides, there’s over $20,000 in cash and prizes to be won!

That’s all for this week! As you can see, another week full of variety. Hope you all have a great and safe Halloween this weekend, and stay tuned to the Stampede Blog next Monday where we’ll highlight some more of the things happening Here. All Year.
