With only about a week and a half to go until Christmas, things are definitely slowing down here on Park. However, what better way to celebrate Winter and the (rapidly!) approaching holidays than with the Canadian tradition of Hockey? Lots of hockey coming your way in the next few weeks, and this week is no exception.

First, the Canadian National Women’s Hockey Team takes on Team USA in game four of a six game series between the two nations. Being played in cities across North America, Team Canada currently leads the series 3-0. Will our women continue to dominate? Why not come down and find out? This exhibition game takes place Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pengrowth Saddledome, and is an excellent opportunity to see our women’s national team in action up close before the 2010 Vancouver Olympic games! Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Next, the NHL’s Calgary Flames start a four game home stand at the Saddledome on Thursday, Dec. 17 when the Los Angeles Kings roll into town. Game time is at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Not to be outdone, the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen will be finishing a three game home stand of their own when the Regina Pats visit the Saddledome on Friday, Dec. 18. Will they be able to maintain their dominance in the division? There’s only one way to find out! Game time is at 7 p.m. and tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Finally, the NHL’s Calgary Flames continue their home stand as they play the Nashville Predators on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Saddledome. Game time for this game is 2 p.m. and tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Also, H1N1 and Seasonal Influenza Vaccinations are still available for all Albertans aged six months and older, and will continue to be given at the Stampede Grandstand. For more information regarding Alberta’s influenza vaccination clinics and hours, see Alberta Health Services. Parking at the Grandstand Building for the duration of the influenza vaccination clinics is free.

That’s about it for this week. Tune into the Stampede Blog next week where we’ll highlight some more of the things happening Here. All Year.
