In partnership with leading industry stakeholders, this area features a celebration of Alberta agriculture called Ag-tivity in the City. It showcases industry displays with presentations focusing on food consumption, safety and nutrition, animal presentations, as well as some of the most recent science and technology innovations.

Team up to try your hand at virtual farming with the Nutrients for Life game, or just crawl through the earthworm tunnel. Agrium has expanded Seed Survivor’s focus so visitors can experience and learn more at this interactive, curriculum based display.
AGRIUM'S DISCOVERY CENTRE
Found in the ‘Ag-titity in the City’ area, this structure profiles the major Alberta producer organizations. These groups are keen to tell their industry story through displays that involve all the senses. There is much to see, and do, from the live animals that can be seen up close and personal, to the hands-on activities that help explain the vast world of agriculture, everyone gets involved.DR. Popular with all ages, guests will experience a presentation that entertains while learning about the anatomy of a horse. Participants will experience an archaeological like dig to discover bones to match against a full size horse skeleton. The energetic and entertaining staff will explain and educate as the audience learns about form and function of the equine skeleton, as well as how these bones relate to the human anatomy.BEEF DISPLAY
Learn more about this leading Alberta industry. Alberta Beef will share with you the nutritional value of beef and the environmentally friendly practices of cattle producers and the role they play in sustainable agriculture. You can also learn about the many uses of beef byproducts – their presence is in different products that are used everyday. There will be interactive activities, recipes and information on the various cuts of meat.CHICKEN DISPLAY
This presentation of the Alberta Chicken Producers features a pen of day-old chicks as well as consumer information. Chicken producers will be present to answer questions on Alberta’s production of quality chicken. This industry continues to grow and have a significant presence in Alberta. EGG DISPLAY
Brought to you by the Alberta Egg Producers, this display will take you through the sights and sounds of an Alberta egg barn. Test your egg grading skills in the egg grading station. Great new recipes will also be available.
GRAIN DISPLAY
This presentation by the Alberta Canola Producers and Dow AgroSciences will show you all the benefits of the innovative seed known as canola. While the children roll miniature tractors through the canola seed box, there will be an opportunity to talk with a canola producer. A new innovation to be featured is the development of biodiesal derived from canola. See the world’s first biodiesel-powered vehicle ever to burn up a track on high performance canola biodiesel. MILK DISPLAY
Learn where milk comes from and how it is made. Learn how milk and dairy products, one of the five food groups, helps your body grow strong and healthy. You can see a cow milked or experience the task of milking on the life-size mechanical cow. Milk and cookies will again be offered at a nominal fee. There is much to learn at this active display. SWINE DISPLAY
This display presented by Alberta Pork and the Calgary Stampede Swine committee will show you what the modern day pigpen actually looks like. You may be surprised to see how clean it is. If you stay long enough you will see how a young litter of piglets gets called to supper then wrestles to get to the right spot to eat. Swine by-products help to provide over 40 different medicines. There is much to learn about the many benefits of this thriving Alberta industry.
BISON PRODUCERS OF ALBERTA

AGRIUM AGRICULTURE TOURS
Headquartered in the miniature barn at the south entrance to ‘Ag-tivity in the City’ area.Take a tour of the Calgary Stampede’s agriculture presentations with a knowledgeable guide. You will learn some interesting facts about this important industry. Tours run continuously from 11:00am to 8:00pm.
EXPRESS PERSONNEL CLYDESDALE HITCH
These famous Clydesdales will roll into the Park on July 4 and will be housed in the Agrium Ag-tivity in the City area for the 10 days of Stampede. Also featured is an authentic Stage Coach. It is an excellent opportunity to see these “Gentle Giants” up close and personal. There will be a daily hitching of this six-horse team, with their brass and leather harnesses.PIGEON DASH FOR CASH
The pigeons will be racing again from their home in Agrium Ag-tivity in the City. The pigeon loft is home to 60 racing pigeons that started here as young birds just learning to fly in mid-May. You will understand why they are called “homing pigeons.” Watch these feathered athletes soar and land in their loft daily. The grand finale, a 160 kilometre (100-mile) sudden death race, takes place on Sunday, July 15. These amazing racers will vie for a total purse of $3,000. FESTIVAL OF THE WEST

True cowboy entertainment, this presentation features some of Canada’s best in cowboy poetry, songs and stories celebrating and preserving our western heritage. The old west lives. Come and experience the tradition. You will leave the festival with a smile and an appreciation for the cowboy way of life.
