Beef Cattle Showcase

The 2008 Beef Cattle Showcase is a live animal display of Alberta’s beef cattle breeds. Located in the main barn this showcase will also incorporate informative displays about the various breeds. With 39% of the Canadian beef herd located in Alberta, the beef industry not only contributes to the financial well-being of this province, but also plays a part in our daily healthy living.

Heavy Horse Pull Team Signage Auction

Similar to the Chuckwagon Canvas Auction, buyers can purchase team signage. The buyer's name will appear on the team during the pull's and in the show program

International Livestock Auctioneer Competition

Contestants from around the world compete in an actual cattle sale, held at the Calgary Stockyards, Strathmore Friday, July 11th. The top 10 contestants then advance to the Championship in the Big Top. A panel of five judges score the contestants on spotting bids, repartee and timing, rhythm, clarity and voice control, livestock knowledge as well as appearance and mannerisms.

Horse Haven - Light Horse Demos & Displays

For the horse lover an interactive “fort” setting located in the north end of the Agriculture barn. Throughout the ten days there will be a variety of horse breeds on display in the stalls and in action at the Northern Lights Arena located across from Horse Haven. Come on in and see the horses.

Llama Showcase

The 2008 Llama Showcase will present a celebration of the Llama. Hands on, live interaction with the animals, a fibre competition, and live demonstrations will highlight the Llamas versatility and potential as an alternative livestock.

Miniature Donkey Showcase

The first and foremost attraction to Miniature Donkeys is their loving personalities. They demand attention! They form close attachments to their owners and to other donkeys. Because of their laid-back, easy going personalities, they make wonderful pets for children, the handicapped and the elderly. Come to the Victoria Pavilion and meet these little wonders.

Vintage Tractor Pull

A grand part of Alberta’s agricultural heritage will be shown off during the Vintage Tractor Pull competition and the Show and Shine presentation in the Big Top. With engines roaring these representatives of yesteryear will compete head to head to determine who has the most pulling power. Come to cheer and see your favorite drivers and tractors.

Vintage Tractor Show and Shine

This is your chance to get a first hand look at the pre-1960 vintage tractors. Happening right after the Vintage Tractor Pull in the Big Top, spectators are able to come down from the stands and view the tractors up close, speak to the owners and hear about the rich history that comes with each and every one of them!

The Express Clydesdales

Making a return visit to the Calgary Stampede. These magnificent Clydesdales will be featured in Express Clydesdale Alley in the Agriculture Barns. Watch for this hitch of an authentic 24 passenger hotel coach replica, as it will be making appearances at various Agriculture venues throughout Stampede

Budweiser Clydesdales

See the amazing Budweiser Clydesdales in ‘Ag-tivity in the City’. Their size and beauty is unbelievable, making it easy to understand why they are world famous.
