Chuckwagon Races

That pounding of hoofs and trembling of the ground can mean only one thing; the world’s premier chuckwagon event, the GMC Rangeland Derby, has begun! During nine nightly heats, featuring a new Semi-Final Saturday, you’ll witness all the heart-stopping action as 36 drivers, 288 horses, and their teams of outriders vie for over $1.15 million in prize money! The races start nightly at 8 pm. The world famous Grandstand Show follows.

New voice of the chuckwagons

The Calgary Stampede is pleased to announce that veteran chuckwagon and rodeo announcer Les McIntyre is the new voice of the GMC Rangeland Derby. McIntyre becomes only the second person in Calgary Stampede chuckwagon history to call the races, taking the reins from the legendary Joe Carbury who retired in 2008 after 45 years.
