2008 Chuckwagon Canvas Auction
The Calgary Stampede celebrated another successful Canvas Auction on Thursday evening with a total amount bid of $2,516,000. For the second year in a row, chuckwagon veteran and fan favourite, Kelly Sutherland, earned the highest bid and set a new record of $210,000 from Hear Now Incorporated. The second highest bid went to three-time Calgary Stampede Aggregate winner Buddy Bensmiller with a bid of $140,000 from ACERA Developments Inc. The average bid for drivers this year was $69,889, the third highest in the Calgary Stampede Canvas Auction history.
