HALL OF FAME
The 2007 Western Art Show of the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede will introduce the creation of the Western Art Show Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame will serve to honor those artists whose work and participation have had a significant impact on the continued success of the Western Art Show over the last 27 years. Each year the outstanding contributions of artists will be reviewed and recommendations presented for possible induction into the Hall Of Fame. In 2007 we are proud and honored to unveil two long time supporters of the Western Art Show. These two artists will be introduced and acknowledged at the opening of this years’ Art Show. Their achievements and a showcase of their work will be displayed in the Western Art Show in Hall D of the Round-Up Centre. We are hoping a permanent location will be made available to house and showcase the legacy of all the inductees of the Western Art Show Hall of Fame in the expansion of the Round-Up Centre.

People of the Plains – Artistic Expressions
A new initiative this year is “People of the Plains” – Artistic Expressions. This presentation and sale will display noted Aboriginal artists who have been invited to participate in the show. These artists come from many regions of the Canadian Plains. Their art will include flat as well as 3-D pieces and represents the unique style of these cultures. The artists are Terry McCue, Dawn Oman, Trevor Kiitokii, Neepan Auger, Robert Jerome, Nokomis, Ernie Scoles and Irvin Head.
Feature Artist: Michele Zarb
Michele Zarb grew up living and traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada. Her interest in art started at an early age, winning her first art award at age six. After settling in Canada in 1988, Michele devoted herself to painting professionally.
Zarb's love for the rich culture and heritage of the Northern Plains is evident in her work. Research in libraries and archives as well as personal experience ensure her paintings are accurate. Her favorite subject is the Plains Indian. Michele finds their culture, artifacts, and spirituality fascinating. She discovers endless subjects with the mystery, symbols, color, and tradition of the First Nations people.
Michele Zarb's work has been accepted in international competitions in Canada and the United States. She has been elected membership in various art organizations throughout North America. She was the only artist in Canada to be accepted to the Cowboy Artists of America Workshop in Bozeman, Montana. Michele was also selected to design the 2004 Stampede Western Art Show collector pin.
