There’s more to the Calgary Stampede than the rodeo and rides. Stroll around the park and take in some of the flavour of the West with displays, attractions and events that entertain and educate.

WESTERN OASIS

New on park this year, visitors are invited to take a break from the action and excitement of the Stampede Midway and enter the cool and inviting Western Oasis. Guests can take their time, reflect on the art and water features, enjoy cowboy poetry and music, and appreciate good food and the wine paired with it. This truly is an oasis of calm on Stampede Park.

Situated in Halls D & E of the newly-expanded BMO Centre, visitors will experience a wave of artistic excellence that includes photographs, bronzes, paintings, cooking demonstrations, arts & crafts and western entertainment. They can’t miss the mural mosaic entitled ‘The Horse Gift.’ At over 22 feet high and 18 feet wide, it contains 238 panels that feature the work of 174 artists.

Integrated with the western art & lifestyles displays are relaxing oasis areas highlighted with natural outdoor elements such as stone, greenery and water features, and featuring the Western Oasis Wine Garden. In the centre is the 10,000 square foot premier oasis, surrounded by smaller oasis areas featuring bronzed living statues, themed to integrate naturally into their surroundings.

BMO KIDS ZONE

New for 2009! Visit the BMO Kids Zone located within Saddledome Lane, south of the Pengrowth Saddledome, north of the Agriculture Building. This new interactive area is filled with great activities for kids & families. Be sure to stop by and take part in some of the fun.

Weadickville

West of the Coca-Cola Stage & North of the Big Four Building, you’ll find a re-creation of a Calgary street circa 1912. It’s a cool and comfortable place to relax and find some of the best values on Stampede Park.

INDIAN VILLAGE

Experience the colourful heritage of the Treaty 7 First Nations in a beautiful park setting. Catch native dance, games, meat cutting competitions and much more. Native interpreters are on-hand to provide information and commentary about their culture to visitors on an ongoing basis. Guided tours of the Village are available.

THE BELL GETAWAY

The Bell Getaway is a hot new digital playground where guests can rock out at Stampede. Visitors will experience the latest in technology including the hottest Bell products showcased in the Getaway Digital Lounges.

Rocktagon

Step inside the Rocktagon - a 360 degree state-of-the-art digital theatre with themed video, sound and lighting shows that will blow your mind! Enjoy a new show every 30 minutes.

The Groovaloos

The Bell Getaway welcomes the Groovaloos, winners of the 2009 Superstars of Dance Competition, with their unique style of hip-hop break dancing and improvisational athleticism that never quits.

BUCKAROOS - KID CENTRAL

A great place for kids. Ever taken a cruise on a plasma car? Gone for an air bounce? At Buckaroos, you can do both, plus a whole lot more. Stop by to see all the exciting new activities in this area, including a toddler play area, magic nuudles, monster mural, button making, face painting, and much more. And don’t forget to snap a complimentary photo at the Western Photo booth.
