The Young Canadians School
The Young Canadians School of the Performing Arts is an engaging opportunity to train in dance, voice, and performance, by a professional faculty. Training is provided by a diverse team of specialists who foster technical development, artistic creation, and performance excellence.
The Young Canadians School is comprised of 120 dedicated youth from the Calgary area who wish to train in a professional setting. Members train to deliver exceptional performance experiences representing the Calgary Stampede Foundation, and the Calgary Stampede.
Each year members are cast as part of the annual Grandstand Show performing for an international audience of over 150,000 spectators at the Calgary Stampede. The season runs from September to July annually.
The Young Canadians School consists of youth between the ages of 11-18. Annual auditions are held in May for interested candidates who are passionate about dance, vocal, and performance. School members are eligible to receive a tuition scholarship of up $7,000.00 per year thanks to the generous support of the Calgary Stampede Foundation.
Members have the exclusive opportunity to apply for additional scholarships through the Calgary Stampede Foundation on a yearly basis. These scholarships are thanks to the generous support of Joe and Sarah Bragger, the Robson Family, and Enbridge.
The Junior TYC School consists of 48 energetic youth between the ages of 7-11. Annual casting is held in January for interested candidates who are passionate about dance, vocal, performance, and wishing to be part of the annual TransAlta Grandstand Show at the Calgary Stampede.
