You could be reporting on all the exciting events and activities on BMO Kids’ Day, Wednesday, July 12, 2017. You could be interviewing guests, cowboys, and performers with our radio partner 660 News. You will also have the opportunity to appear on TV, with our TV partner, Citytv and be featured in newspaper articles following the event.

How it Works:

Submit a unique and original news story (approximately 1/2 page) as though you were a reporter for the Calgary Stampede. The essay should begin as follows: “Howdy – I’m (entrant's name) and I am here to tell you about the exciting things you can do at the Stampede and why you should come down to celebrate!”

Contest runs April 1, to June 2, 2017.

Finalists will be called in for a video audition on Thursday, June 15, 2017 for a chance to be a BMO Junior Reporter at BMO Kids' Day on July 12, 2017.

    THE BMO BANK OF MONTREAL® KIDS’ DAY JUNIOR REPORTER CONTEST (the “Contest”)

    No purchase necessary. The Contest is open to residents of Alberta, who is the parent or legal guardian of a child 8 to 13 years of age (inclusive) as of the start of the Contest Period, and who are eligible to be a beneficiary of a Registered Education Savings Plan (“RESP”) under Canada Revenue Agency’s requirements and whose parent or legal guardian has reached the age majority in Alberta. The Contest begins on April 1, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. MT and ends on June 5, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. MT. There are three ways to enter the Contest: (1) the parent or legal guardian of an entrant (and the entrant as well if they are 13 years of age as of the start of the Contest Period) can complete a Contest entry form and mail it, together with the entrant’s News Story, to Calgary Stampede Headquarters; (2) a completed Contest entry form and News Story can be dropped off at the main entrance of Calgary Stampede Headquarters; and (3) the parent or legal guardian of an entrant can enter online, by going to calgarystampede.com/contests; clicking on the “BMO Junior Reporter” contest link; and then completing the online Contest entry form (except for that News Story field which must be completed by the entrant themselves). Limit of one (1) entry per entrant, regardless of method of entry. There will be two (2) Grand Prizes available to be won, one selected for male entrants and one selected for female entrants. Each Grand Prize consists of the following: $2,500 towards a BMO Intuition® RESP; $1,500 towards supplies for the entrant’s school; one (1) western-themed outfit; four (4) Calgary Stampede Evening Show tickets; four (4) gate admissions; four (4) midway ride passes; and four (4) food vouchers. Approximate total retail value of each Grand Prize is $4,966 CDN.Each entrant’s News Story will be evaluated by a Judging Panel based on the News Story’s originality, creativity, uniqueness, appropriateness and relevance to the subject matter of the contest. On June 15, 2017, a Judging Panel will select up to the top five (5) eligible male News Stories and up to the top five (5) eligible female News Stories. Odds of an entrant’s News Story being selected by the Judging Panel depend on the number of News Stories received, both by male and female eligible entrants.All selected entrants will have an Audition held on June 15, 2017, at Stampede Headquarters. Each audition will last for approximately 15 minutes, where the selected entrant will be required to read their News Story. Based upon the Auditions the Judging Panel will select one (1) male potential winner and one (1) female potential winner.
