In 2008, Ament started production on a new album with ace producer Jeff Nystrom. With a commanding stage presence and a sound steeped in tradition, Justin takes centre stage as he sings some of country's biggest hits.

Adam Gregory

Though he's just 23 years old, Adam Gregory draws on more than a decade's worth of writing and performing experience for his self-titled debut album on Nashville's Big Machine Records. Growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, Adam's musical journey began when he wrote his first composition at age 12. He signed a record deal with Sony Canada when he was just 13 years old, scoring hits with the singles "Horseshoes", "No Vacancy" and "Big Star". After recording his debut album, Adam launched into life as a road warrior opening shows for the likes of Alan Jackson, Keith Urban and Lonestar. This is Adam's second appearance at Nashville North.

Darcy seemed destined to become a musician from an early start. He was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta and moved to Edmonton shortly after. Darcy grew up listening to the likes of, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Roy Orbison, CCR, Neil Diamond and The Eagles, but not from the radio mind you, but from his Father’s Rock & Roll band, who used to practice their music in the family basement.

Larry Krause has been a headliner for Grandstand shows, including opening the Sunday mainstage at Dauphin’s Countryfest, played for international trade shows, been featured on television specials, performed around the fire after a long Cowboy day, and just about everything in between. Larry was nominated in 2004 as Saskatchewan Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year, with his debut Country CD, “True Blue“, receiving the nomination as Album of the Year. His second CD, “The Gate is Open” a Country Gospel album, received the award from the SCMA for Gospel Album of the Year in 2007. Country radio stations across Western Canada, with inspirational programming, regularly play songs from this CD.

Jesse is a young, up and coming singer-songwriter sensation who debuted his singing talents in 2003 at the Pincher Creek Cowboy Gathering. He has continued to perform and entertain audiences throughout Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and B.C. He recorded his first CD in 2004 and in 2006 recorded his second CD. His first CD has already received air time on several radio stations in Oregon, Idaho, B.C., Alberta, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Marty Antonini has been a professional entertainer for more than 30 years. In 1989, he moved to Calgary and joined Ian Tyson’s band as his piano player and back-up singer for 2 years. Marty has performed as a single entertainer at various concerts and telethons all across Canada; he also played at the Roundup pub in the former Roundup Center for ten years in the 80’s and 90’s, during the Stampede.

Tracy Millar (Country Singer)

Since arriving on the country music scene as a CCMA showcase artist in 2003, Tracy Millar has been recognized as one of Alberta’s true country treasures. Growing up in Hines Creek, Alberta, musical influences such as Charley Pride and Ricky Skaggs helped develop Tracy's love for traditional country music. Tracy released her first album “You Go Girl…” in 2005. She received airplay on both commercial country radio and campus/specialty radio stations. Many have enjoyed her repertoire as she stays true to her classic country roots. “I’m Not That Girl Anymore”, released in 2008 is Tracy’s second album release and showcases her growth as a songwriter and as an artist. Its traditional country and bluegrass styling indicate that Canada undoubtedly has a new and captivating voice that simply must be heard.

Charlie Ewing (Cowboy Singer/Songwriter)

Charlie Ewing makes his living on a cattle ranch in southern Alberta, Canada. He has been playing folk, bluegrass and country music since he started playing guitar back in the sixties. He started writing songs about ranch and country life about ten years ago, and has been performing them as a solo act. He loves old folk music, especially those with rural or historical themes and his biggest influences include Ian Tyson, Gordon Lightfoot, bluegrass players like Tim O’brien, Tony Rice and old time musicians like Norman Blake and Doc Watson.

Deric Ruttan

Deric Ruttan's debut CD yielded five Top Ten singles (including the hits, "When You Come Around", "Shine" and "Take The Wheel") and earned him a "Best Album" nomination at the 2004 Canadian Country Music Awards. In 2004 he was named "Best New Solo Country Artist" at the Canadian Radio Music Awards. Stateside though, Ruttan's artist career was about to be eclipsed by his song writing success. One of those early collaborations, Dierks Bentley's debut "What Was I Thinkin'", was a #1 Billboard hit (the first #1 for both artists), and helped set Bentley on the path to country stardom. Deric returns to the Stampede after appearing last year with Dierks Bentley at the Coke stage.

Prairie Mountain Fiddlers

The Prairie Mountain Fiddlers began in 1986 as a way to bring together all those interested in old time fiddle. Today their playing membership totals 45 to 50 and they have another 40 non-playing members. As well as the fiddlers, some members play guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, bass and other acoustic instruments. To celebrate Alberta's Centennial in 2005, they completed their 4th recording. They have played sold out concerts at Mount Royal College, the University of Calgary, and the Bert Church Theatre in Airdrie. Growing up in Hobbema, AB, Yellowbird, who is Cree, was a typical cowboy. His parents participated in the rodeo circuit and their son learned early on to rope and ride, fully embracing the cowboy lifestyle. Rhythm Kats (Rhythm Band)

The Rhythm Kats, under the direction of June Crowe, have been together for four years operating out of the Bow Cliff Seniors Home in the Spruce Cliff Community Centre. The band is comprised of piano, mouth organs, xylophones, various rhythm makers and drums. The energetic Rhythm Kats love to visit various nursing homes, performing hit from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. They are sure to delight their audience.

Prairie Mountain Fiddlers

The Prairie Mountain Fiddlers began in 1986 as a way to bring together all those interested in old time fiddle. Today their playing membership totals 45 to 50 and they have another 40 non-playing members. As well as the fiddlers, some members play guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, bass and other acoustic instruments. To celebrate Alberta's Centennial in 2005, they completed their 4th recording. They have played sold out concerts at Mount Royal College, the University of Calgary, and the Bert Church Theatre in Airdrie. They have also performed at the Torrington Old Dance Festival, the Chevron Stampede Breakfast, and Heritage Park.

Peter Heissler, its leader, formed the band in 2003. Over the past six years approximately 20 musicians have been part of this band. Its core is made up of Peter its leader, vocal and chromonica, supported by bass, violin, guitar and keyboard. Peter was born in Tallinn Estonia in 1939, lived in Lithuania, Poland and Germany. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada with his family and settled firstly in Toronto and then to a farm his parents purchased in Trenton, Ontario. Peter & Pals perform over 200 times a year to nursing homes, retirement centers, hospitals, private parties, jamborees and fund-raising organizations.

The Kentucky Headhunters create a hybrid of honky-tonk, blues and Southern rock that appeals to fans of both rock and country music. While they were only officially together for a few albums, the band nevertheless left a long shadow. 1989's "Pickin' On Nashville", received overwhelmingly positive reviews and quickly became a hit. "Dumas Walker" reached number 15 in the spring of 1990, followed by the group's biggest hit, the number six "Oh, Lonesome Me". The band has seen many re-incarnations, but with the return of Doug Phelps, they have continued to release albums and tour regularly. This is the Kentucky Headhunters' second appearance at Nashville North.

Crystal Shawanda is a star on the rise. She was born in Ontario and grew up on a reservation called Wikwemikong on Canada's Manitoulin Island. Crystal's debut album, Dawn Of A New Day, which was produced by Scott Hendricks, featured "You Can Let Go", her first single, which became one of the most played singles in Canada and reached the top ten within five weeks of release. It was the fastest climbing single on the Canadian Country Singles Chart since Carolyn Dawn Johnson's "Georgia" in 2000. This will be Crystal's second consecutive year at Nashville North.

Prairie Mountain Fiddlers

The Prairie Mountain Fiddlers began in 1986 as a way to bring together all those interested in old time fiddle. Today their playing membership totals 45 to 50 and they have another 40 non-playing members. As well as the fiddlers, some members play guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, bass and other acoustic instruments. To celebrate Alberta's Centennial in 2005, they completed their 4th recording. They have played sold out concerts at Mount Royal College, the University of Calgary, and the Bert Church Theatre in Airdrie. They have also performed at the Torrington Old Dance Festival, the Chevron Stampede Breakfast, and Heritage Park.

These musical sisters have captivated audiences at the Calgary Stampede, Big Valley Jamboree, Spruce Meadows and other fairs and jamborees in and out of Alberta. The girls have enjoyed meeting a lot of influential and supportive people, who continue to inspire them with their positive feedback. As well as playing Traditional Celtic, “East Coast” style fiddle tunes, the girls sing and clog to their music with their Mom accompanying them on her guitar. Entertaining audiences with their toe tapping fiddle music is what keeps them motivated to practice and continue to work hard.

Raised on a farm near Magrath, Alberta, Canada, Trevor recently accomplished a Canadian first by advancing to the National final of the 26th annual Colgate Country Music Showdown in Nashville Tennessee. Despite a brilliant performance at the Ryman Auditorium Panczak fell just short of the $100,000 prize, placing 2nd to Nash Street by a 3-2 vote.

Since orphaned 36 years ago at the Grace hospital in Calgary, Alberta, this Canadian born musician has drawn upon his innate love for creating music to help carry him through what was certain to be a song-worthy journey. From earlier childhood limericks and air guitars to the ongoing performances as a single artist, Rob has versed himself in a multitude of different band arrangements and musical genres. His formal training stems from the Victoria School of Performing Arts where he won awards and bursaries in a number of disciplines including electronic music, chamber choirs, jazz ensembles and musical dramas. Rob is well known in his home city of Edmonton as a “semi-acoustic-six-string-singer-song-writer.” He continues to garner a favourable response from all those fortunate enough to have heard him play.

Peter Heissler, its leader, formed the band in 2003. Over the past six years approximately 20 musicians have been part of this band. Its core is made up of Peter its leader, vocal and chromonica, supported by bass, violin, guitar and keyboard. Peter was born in Tallinn Estonia in 1939, lived in Lithuania, Poland and Germany. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada with his family and settled firstly in Toronto and then to a farm his parents purchased in Trenton, Ontario. Peter & Pals perform over 200 times a year to nursing homes, retirement centers, hospitals, private parties, jamborees and fund-raising organizations.

Shane has appeared many times on the Nashville North stage but takes the spotlight this year with his first headline appearance.

Duane Steele (Country Singer/Songwriter)

Duane Steele is among Canada's top country recording artists and songwriters with a professional career dating back to 1984. Over the course of that career, Steele has released five albums, had numerous radio hits (including “Anita Got Married” his first single release and #1 hit), and has had eleven videos on CMT Canada. In 1997 Duane was the winner of the CCMA for Vocal Collaboration of the Year with Lisa Brokop for the single "Two Names On An Overpass". Duane's pure voice and natural stage presence makes his live shows a must see. Fans relate to his lyrics and song writing style. When he is not touring or working on his own projects he is often writing with other artists.

Krysta Scoggins

Krysta began building her musical identity at a very young age: learning to play the piano and guitar, performing for large crowds by the age of 5 and evolving into a songwriter at the age of 13. In a very short time Krysta has built an impressive list of achievements: Showcasing for the Canadian Country Music Association; performing at the Big Valley Jamboree and the Calgary Stampede, and opening for such artists as The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, David Lee Murphy, Jason McCoy, Brad Johner and Glass Tiger. Her dynamic vocals also ensured her a spot on the Canadian Military Christmas Show Tour, which travelled across the globe to Israel and Egypt to perform not only for our Canadian troops but also for the United Nations soldiers as well.

Emerson Drive

Not many Canadian artists can claim a nomination for a GRAMMY in the same category as the Eagles, but that's exactly what Emerson Drive accomplished in 2008. Their song "Moments" got the nod for "2008 Best Country Performance By A Duo or Group With Vocals". This year the group was recognized by the ACM with a nomination for "Top Vocal Group". This group delivers all their hits and some new material including their latest chart-toppers, "Good Man" and "Moments" in a dynamic performance as they return to this year's Nashville North lineup.

Johnny Reid

9:00pm - 10:45pm at Coca-Cola Stage
in the Coca-Cola Stage Zone

Over the past two years, Reid's 2007 sophomore effort, "Kicking Stones," has been setting the Canadian country scene on fire. Certified Platinum in Canada, it has garnered the Scottish Born, Canadian singer/songwriter CCMA awards for Top-Selling Canadian Recording and Top Male Artist in 2008, as well as a Juno nomination for Country Recording of the Year. It's also yielded three top ten radio singles in "Love Sweet Love" and "Kicking' Stones," and the runaway hit "Darlin," this last one sailing into both the top five at radio and the number one spot on CMT last year. Out of the gate, his new album Dance With Me is promising to be an even bigger success. It's already making an impression with the lead single, "A Woman Like You," which went straight into heavy rotation at CMT and was the #1 most added track at country radio in January 2009. The album, released March 10, 2009 has already been certified Gold in Canada.

Hey Romeo

Hey Romeo (Stacie Roper, Rob Shapiro and Darren Gusnowsky) is one of Canada's busiest touring bands. The dynamic Edmonton, Alberta country trio released its debut single "Wrap These Around You" in 2005 under the humorous band name, Udder Maddness. Sanity prevailed; the name of the band changed to Hey Romeo and has since chalked up more than 700 shows throughout Canada since forming in 2002. In 2008, the band received the CCMA Emerging Artist award for groups, and is currently finishing up its new album produced by CCMA Producer Of The Year, Byron Hill.

Craig Moritz

in the Nashville North Zone

Craig has become a Nashville North favourite. Since embarking on a full time music career in 2002, Craig's tireless work ethic and from-the-heart performances have landed him front and centre, opening shows for the likes of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Charlie Major, Jason McCoy, Aaron Lines, George Canyon and David Lee Murphy, one of Craig's mentors. In May of 2005, Craig released his debut album The Way I Feel, which received rave reviews. In 2008, he released his second album Down And Dirty, which included "Blame You", Craig's first video.
