New to Buckaroos in 2009, Bobs & Lolo are dedicated to connecting kids to the natural world with music, movement and make-believe. Sharing musical stories that engage, inspire and educate, they teach kids to care about themselves, their neighbours and the planet. Their energy will get you dancing, singing and playing along in an exciting world filled with bikes, gardens, rocket ships and more!

Craig, Lou and Dianne have been performing individually and with others for more than 30 years. A deep love of music and a longing to take their ‘jamming for fun’ to the next level led them to form Horizon Ridge in 2007. With diversified backgrounds ranging from blues, country, easy listening and gospel, they bring an appreciation for different perspectives to the songs they play and sing. They are delighted to return to Window on the West in 2009!

The USA Break Dancers perform to a blend of disco, funk, hip-hop, old-school rap and classic soul - music that will have everyone in the audience grooving and getting down to the bumper baby!

Barry Luft and Tim Rogers began performing together in 1974, drawn together by their passion for music that expresses the spirit of the Canadian west. In 1983 they released an LP entitled Songs of the Iron Trail: The Canadian Railroad Experience in Song which became a pioneer album in the heritage music movement. This album of classic railway songs has won multiple awards being rereleased as a CD in 2007.

The stars of the future are shining brightly at the Calgary Stampede Talent Search, now in its 29th year. This event has often been the first to direct the spotlight on impressive rising talent. This year, 70 amateur youth performers (aged 13 to 21) from across southern Alberta will demonstrate their singing, dancing, acting and musical talents as they compete for cash prizes.

Their ages range from 65 to 92 years young and almost all the instruments are handmade. Members come and go but the Jeritol Jivers have been playing for the last 25 years. The piano player picks the melody and the members of the band join in. They have tap dancers, singers and they play all kinds of music. Young or young at heart, you won’t want to miss the fun program they have put together for our stage.

Not only stunningly real Beatle look-a-likes and sound-a-likes, REPLAY recreates the essence of The Beatles, capturing their spirit and persona on-stage. Many people have said REPLAY "is" The Beatles. They felt they were actually watching John, Paul, George and Ringo. Add authentic costumes and instruments, and REPLAY is a one-of-a-kind experience. REPLAY has performed all over Canada and the USA.

The Calgary Stampede and GMC are proud to present the 87th running of the GMC Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Races. Every evening, nine heats comprised of four wagons and 16 outriders compete in an arduous race. Today, the rewards of winning a chuckwagon race are much greater thanks in part to GMC. Total prize money for the 2009 event will be $1,154,400, which includes a Sunday Showdown Final Heat that pays $150,000. The Prairie Mountain Fiddlers began in 1986 as a way to bring together all those interested in old time fiddle. Today their playing membership totals 45 to 50 and they have another 40 non-playing members. As well as the fiddlers, some members play guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, bass and other acoustic instruments. To celebrate Alberta's Centennial in 2005, they completed their 4th recording. They have played sold out concerts at Mount Royal College, the University of Calgary, and the Bert Church Theatre in Airdrie. They have also performed at the Torrington Old Dance Festival, the Chevron Stampede Breakfast, and Heritage Park.

Muddy Road is rooted in early American bluegrass and string roots mountain music. The group was founded in Calgary in October 2004 and has played at the Calgary Stampede, weddings, retirement homes, churches, and public and private venues. All of the members have a long history of playing and performing music and have recently released their first CD.

The Rhythm Kats, under the direction of June Crowe, have been together for four years operating out of the Bow Cliff Seniors Home in the Spruce Cliff Community Centre. The band is comprised of piano, mouth organs, xylophones, various rhythm makers and drums. The energetic Rhythm Kats love to visit various nursing homes, performing hit from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. They are sure to delight their audience.

The Prairie Mountain Fiddlers began in 1986 as a way to bring together all those interested in old time fiddle. Today their playing membership totals 45 to 50 and they have another 40 non-playing members. As well as the fiddlers, some members play guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano, bass and other acoustic instruments. To celebrate Alberta's Centennial in 2005, they completed their 4th recording. They have played sold out concerts at Mount Royal College, the University of Calgary, and the Bert Church Theatre in Airdrie. They have also performed at the Torrington Old Dance Festival, the Chevron Stampede Breakfast, and Heritage Park.

Peter Heissler, its leader, formed the band in 2003. Over the past six years approximately 20 musicians have been part of this band. Its core is made up of Peter its leader, vocal and chromonica, supported by bass, violin, guitar and keyboard. Peter was born in Tallinn Estonia in 1939, lived in Lithuania, Poland and Germany. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada with his family and settled firstly in Toronto and then to a farm his parents purchased in Trenton, Ontario. Peter & Pals perform over 200 times a year to nursing homes, retirement centers, hospitals, private parties, jamborees and fund-raising organizations.

Hectic Eclectic Quartet is a group of friends who have a passion for performing music at all times. Through years of playing and performing either together or separately, each member brings to the table a wide assortment of songs reflecting his individual musical tastes. The group’s objective is to rework these songs and develop performances which will be enjoyed by all audiences. Hectic Eclectic consists of Sandy Johnson (vocals, guitar), Peter May (vocals and assorted instruments), Art Slinger (electric bass) and Al Nawata (lead guitar).

The native of Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland, garnered attention on the east coast of Canada and now has moved to Alberta to pursue his song writing and recording career. "My music is about reaching one person at a time". Despite the fact he performed to over a million Canadians every week for 13 weeks as a Canadian Idol participant, Greeley still maintains music is about a voice and a heart touching a life. Greeley spent considerable time in Nashville in the late stages of 2008, writing with some of their best songwriters and has just finished recording a new album with CCMA Producer Of The Year, Joel Feeney.

The popular Children’s show celebrates the triumph of the individual against the impossible odds of being little. Now a successful multi-media stage presentation suited for pre-kindergarten to Grade 3. The show centres on Max, a preschool bunny, and his seven-year old sister Ruby. What goes on in the mind of a three-year-old boy is very different from what goes on in the mind of a seven-year-old girl, and Max and Ruby enjoy working and playing together in spite of their conflicting agendas. Four talented sisters aged 14, 12 and 9 year old twins, make up this refreshing, energetic and dynamic family fiddling group from Chestermere, Alberta. These musical sisters have captivated audiences at the Calgary Stampede, Big Valley Jamboree, Spruce Meadows and other fairs and jamborees in and out of Alberta. The girls have enjoyed meeting a lot of influential and supportive people, who continue to inspire them with their positive feedback. As well as playing Traditional Celtic, “East Coast” style fiddle tunes, the girls sing and clog to their music with their Mom accompanying them on her guitar. Entertaining audiences with their toe tapping fiddle music is what keeps them motivated to practice and continue to work hard.

Barry Luft and Tim Rogers began performing together in 1974, drawn together by their passion for music that expresses the spirit of the Canadian west. In 1983 they released an LP entitled Songs of the Iron Trail: The Canadian Railroad Experience in Song which became a pioneer album in the heritage music movement. This album of classic railway songs has won multiple awards being rereleased as a CD in 2007.

The Calgary Stampede and GMC are proud to present the 87th running of the GMC Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Races. Every evening, nine heats comprised of four wagons and 16 outriders compete in an arduous race. Today, the rewards of winning a chuckwagon race are much greater thanks in part to GMC. Total prize money for the 2009 event will be $1,154,400, which includes a Sunday Showdown Final Heat that pays $150,000. Since orphaned 36 years ago at the Grace hospital in Calgary, Alberta, this Canadian born musician has drawn upon his innate love for creating music to help carry him through what was certain to be a song-worthy journey. From earlier childhood limericks and air guitars to the ongoing performances as a single artist, Rob has versed himself in a multitude of different band arrangements and musical genres. His formal training stems from the Victoria School of Performing Arts where he won awards and bursaries in a number of disciplines including electronic music, chamber choirs, jazz ensembles and musical dramas. Rob is well known in his home city of Edmonton as a “semi-acoustic-six-string-singer-song-writer.” He continues to garner a favourable response from all those fortunate enough to have heard him play.

The Calgary Police Chorus is now in their 14th year. By going out into the community, they are ambassadors of the Calgary Police Service. By sharing their love of music, they demonstrate a more personal and human side of the police service through professionalism, compassion and humor. Each member volunteers their personal time for practices and performances, working around shift work, family, community and work related duties.

Tim Buckley is a singer song writer born and raised in Calgary Alberta. He's been gigging around the city for the last four years and has been hammering out quality original tunes over that time period. His first C.D was recorded at SymPul studios and released in 2008. Tim's first recording features an ecclectic mix of songs rooted in blues, country and folk music and he derives his inspiration from a diverse set of singer songwriters such as, Corb Lund, Neil Young, Lyle Lovett, Hank Williams, Gram Parsons, John Prine and Old Crow Medicine show. Over the last few years Tim has matured into a solid performer exemplified by his powerful voice, solid guitar playing and gut wrenching harmonica solos.

Jake Mathews started getting into it when he was 14 years old and started performing live when he was 17. Jake Mathews has quickly established himself as one of Canada’s hot new country stars. He’s had a string of hits including “I’ll Do You One Better”, “That’s How Long”, “Rush”, and “You Put Me Together Again”. A Sudbury, Ontario native, but now a Calgary resident, and Stampede favorite, Jake’s music brings home a traditional country feel, along with all the excitement of “new country”. He recently signed a publishing deal with Nashville’s Grand And Gee Music, writing with Nashville’s best and penning songs for his new album, due in 2009.

Peter Heissler, its leader, formed the band in 2003. Over the past six years approximately 20 musicians have been part of this band. Its core is made up of Peter its leader, vocal and chromonica, supported by bass, violin, guitar and keyboard. Peter was born in Tallinn Estonia in 1939, lived in Lithuania, Poland and Germany. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada with his family and settled firstly in Toronto and then to a farm his parents purchased in Trenton, Ontario. Peter & Pals perform over 200 times a year to nursing homes, retirement centers, hospitals, private parties, jamborees and fund-raising organizations.

The Lost Fingers (Byron Mikaloff, Christian Roberge, Alex Morissette) debut album, Lost In The 80s, has already achieved platinum+ status in Canada (over 100,000 units), and continues to charm and conquer territories beyond its borders. WESTERN HOSPITALITY SINGERS is an all male a cappella singing group from Calgary, Alberta. Having been together since the fall of 1986, the group has grown to over 30 singers. Our motto is ‘Excellence in Close Harmony’ and we enjoy performing a wide variety of musical styles from barbershop, gospel, and traditional to contemporary and western.

Hectic Eclectic Quartet is a group of friends who have a passion for performing music at all times. Through years of playing and performing either together or separately, each member brings to the table a wide assortment of songs reflecting his individual musical tastes. The group’s objective is to rework these songs and develop performances which will be enjoyed by all audiences. Hectic Eclectic consists of Sandy Johnson (vocals, guitar), Peter May (vocals and assorted instruments), Art Slinger (electric bass) and Al Nawata (lead guitar).

Muddy Road is rooted in early American bluegrass and string roots mountain music. The group was founded in Calgary in October 2004 and has played at the Calgary Stampede, weddings, retirement homes, churches, and public and private venues. All of the members have a long history of playing and performing music and have recently released their first CD.

A Band of Outriders is an energetic 35-piece musical ensemble that plays everything from pop, to R&B, to Funk. The Outriders are comprised of Calgary Stampede Showband alumni and other musicians from the Calgary area. The Calgary Stampede and GMC are proud to present the 87th running of the GMC Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Races. Every evening, nine heats comprised of four wagons and 16 outriders compete in an arduous race. Today, the rewards of winning a chuckwagon race are much greater thanks in part to GMC. Total prize money for the 2009 event will be $1,154,400, which includes a Sunday Showdown Final Heat that pays $150,000.
