Come see restored vintage tractors in an actual "Who Can Pull the Most Contest." Six different weight classes and a high-tech weight machine separate the best from the rest. Saturday evening features a "Tractor Show & Shine"; the audience can step into the show arena, check out the tractors and talk to the owners that brought life back to these vintage machines. Metal versus muscle will take place on both Saturday and Sunday, where a Heavy Horse Pull team competes against a Vintage Tractor. Who has more horse power now?

The Priefert Percheron Hitch will be thundering through the 10 days of
Stampede. Six draft horses and driver Jason Goodman, present an amazing
demonstration of speed and agility. Jason makes the maneuvering of the
six horse hitch look easy, but we know that it is skill, strength and
great horsemanship that make it happen. Jason also performs roman riding
on this marvelous Percherons. This presentation is a huge crowd pleaser.

Often compared to watching an intricate dance, the pure athleticism and instinct of a skilled cutting horse is breathtaking to behold. Beginning as a competition between working cowboys for bragging rights as to who had the most “cowy” horse, the cutting horse competition has evolved into one of the largest and most exciting equine events in North America. In the contest arena, the art of the cutting horse comes alive in a classic test of intelligence, training, breeding and skill. In competition, the cutting horse and rider must work together as a team in demonstrating their cattle handling skills. The Calgary Stampede Cutting Horse Competition is a participating event in the National Cutting Horse Association 6666 Ranch World Series of Cutting, bringing together the most skilled horses and riders from across Canada and the United States as they vie for berths in the NCHA World Finals.

The competition includes a reined work pattern, where the horse maneuvers through a series of maneuvers including figure eights, straight runs, lead changes, sliding stops and 360 degree spins. The most challenging and exciting part of the competition is the cow work – where the horse must control the movements of a single steer at a full out run, heading it off and turning it both ways along the fence, then bringing it into the centre of the arena to circle once in each direction. The Working Cow Horse Classic features finished “bridle” horses advanced in their training, as well as younger horses shown in the traditional hackamore.
